Hello Captains and welcome back. It’s time for another around the world adventure. I’ve completed many around the world adventures in flight sim over the years. Back in 2010 I flew around the world in FSX in the Carenado Mooney and loved it. Today I’m embarking on another around the world adventure in MSFS 2024 in the awesome A2A PA-24 Comanche.
Unlike the Carenado Mooney, the A2A Comanche will be a much more challenging airplane to operate and I’m looking forward to flying this adventure. The 2025 Around the World adventure starts in my hometown of Georgetown, Texas (GTU). The goal is to circumnavigate the globe while mainly flying in the northern hemisphere. Much like I did in 2010, I may head south below the equator later in the adventure. Time will tell.
Over the next few days I will be flying northeast as I navigate towards Canada to setup for the North Atlantic crossing which I’ll discuss in a future update. Much like I did in my 2010 adventure, I will post updates and also track progress in two different ways. I’ve created a spreadsheet which I’ll update with each flight leg showing the date, departure, arrival, miles, hours, fuel and also fuel costs. Fuel costs will be based on real world information where available. I’ll also track the flight legs on a Google Map page which you can view here.
In addition, all flights will be conducted in real time (no time acceleration) and real weather conditions. When needed, I will change the time in the sim to simulate daytime flying. If the weather conditions do not allow for VFR flying, then I will remain grounded.
I have no expectation on just how long this will take. To alleviate boredom from flying the same aircraft day in and day out, there will be days that I will choose to fly other aircraft such as tubeliners and may not make any progress on the adventure.
So with all that said, you are welcome to follow along with my progress. Just check the Adventures tab at the top of the page. I’ll post regular updates on my progress.
Until next time…
Happy Flying!!!
Jerry
Hi Jerry,
that sounds like a great idea, I`d imagine FS2024 is a lot more stable with the smaller planes.
Unfortunately, my experience on it has been appalling with CTD`s and freezing screens a plenty even with a brand new rig so I took it off.
I look forward to hearing about your adventures and very interested to see how you get on.
That’s really unfortunate. I’ve heard so many others experience the same pain points with 2024. I’ve had a mostly positive experience with 2024, but then again I’ve only been flying GA aircraft and using 2020 for tubeliner stuff. Hopefully sim update 3 which is expected any day now will solve your issues. But who knows.
Also, just FYI I did download the latest Nvidia drivers as of yesterday and both MSFS 2020 and 2024 run really well.
