Hello Captains and welcome back.
You might remember last week I mentioned a rumor I had heard on Reddit that PMDG had read some of these comments and decided to delay the release so they could make some visual texture improvements after the first few days of the previews had been released on several channels. Apparently, according to at least one YouTube Content Creator the PMDG Boeing 737-800 for MSFS 2024 delay is all because some of us have complained on the various livestreams and videos over the past week or so. According to this one particular YouTube content creator, the PMDG 737-800 would have already been released if we had kept our mouths shut and hadn’t voiced our concerns.
Here’s my take on the situation at hand. First, I know what I saw within the first 24 hours after PMDG lifted the embargo. Many of the exterior textures didn’t look as if it were a truly a “from the ground up” brand new development. Rightfully so, people mentioned this in the livestreams and preview videos. PMDG read these comments and so the error in their ways and spent some additional time working to improve their textures. This by no means the delay of a few days or even a few weeks is our fault. If a developer makes an effort (as PMDG did) to describe their product as a completely, from the ground up new product then it should certainly look like that when they choose to showcase it to the world. After all, we the consumer have seen brand new aircraft release for MSFS 2024 with updated systems, textures and functionality at no additional cost.
The good news is, breaking news early this morning directly from the mouth or text from none other than Robert Randazzo of PMDG, we should have the new PMDG Boeing 737-800 in our virtual hangars sometime on the 18th pending no unexpected delays crop up. We still don’t know the upgrade cost, but I reckon “Soon” we’ll gain a better understanding just how much a few cups of coffee costs in the world of PMDG.
So with this new knowledge, and pending Chaseplane arrives on the 19th as rumors say….I’ll be flying my first airliner flight in MSFS 2024 this weekend. It’s been a long wait, but that wait is almost over.
Until next time…
Happy Flying and Continued Waiting…
