Hello Captains and welcome back. Remember way back in an earlier update post I mentioned my routing for this around the world adventure may take me to places that we normally would never go in the real world? Well as we depart Dalian, China we’re headed due east towards North Korea. It will be interesting to see how MSFS 2024 default scenery handles North Korea, but as the Pyongyang airport is depicted, we’re headed there.
Flight Day 51
Today we depart Dalian to Busan, South Korea by way of one stop, a really quick stop in Pyongyang, North Korea. As I stated above, this is of course something that would never happen in the real world and while I typically pride myself in realism, I am reminded that this is a sim and geo-political boundaries do not exist. We are loading up enough fuel in Dalian so we do not need to refuel in Pyongyang. We will land, taxi around back to the active and depart again.
Flight Day 52
Had a nice breakfast and headed to the airport. Today we will cross the Sea of Japan with the first of two stops in Masuda, Japan then onward to Nagoya. We’re going to do a little exploring this evening and tomorrow morning before setting off for the final flight with Tom as my co-pilot. Tomorrow we will fly to Tsuchiura which is about 37 miles north of Tokyo.
Flight Day 53
As we embark on the Tom’s final flight with me we’re reminiscing on some of the beautiful terrain we’ve seen since he joined me several weeks ago back in Singapore. While much of that time was flying over open water, we really enjoyed flying across Australia and portions of Indonesia. Even North Korea was impressive to see from about 5,000 feet. It’s a shame the political landscape is the way it is as North Korea could truly be a beautiful country to explore. We arrived in Tsuchiura in the early afternoon. While I had Tom’s help, we changed the oil filter and air filter as both were nearing their time and made it to our hotel for the evening.
Flight Day 54
We had a farewell dinner last night and this morning I left for the airport and Tom is headed into Tokyo Narita to catch his flight back to the US. He has some commitments which require him to return home before I could get him back to Georgetown. So as I started this journey almost two months ago flying solo, I will end it in the same fashion. After a full walk-around of the Comanche I departed for northern Japan.
Flight Day 55
It’s time to say goodbye to Japan as I head towards the Russian Far East city of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Kamchatka Krai with a brief fuel stop on Iturup Island, in the Kuril Archipelago, Russia. Russia is unavoidable as I make my way east towards the the Alaskan Aleutian Islands. But this is the way home for me. I will spend the night in Russia then set off for the 570 mile over open water course towards Alaska via the Aleutian Islands.
That wraps up another update. I believe I should be back home in Georgetown in just a few weeks.
Until next time…
Happy Flying!!!
