Short answer, NO!
Hello Captains and welcome back. As we’re counting down the days until Christmas and the New Year, our patience is being tested while we all eagerly await the release of the two most highly anticipated add-ons for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. Yes, I’m talking about the PMDG Boeing 737-800 and Chaseplane. Of these two, the only suggestion of a release date comes from //42 which I mentioned last week in their cryptic image posted on their website and Discord channel. While nothing is absolute until we see the actual product release, there is hope Chaseplane will release next Friday, 19 December.
Of course, PMDG remains tight lipped on any hint of a release. Also as mentioned last week, PMDG went back into development mode after receiving feedback after the first few days of the 737-800 preview by content creators. I suspect if everything had been 100% polished at the time the 737 was handed over to the content creators that we would have already had the new product in our virtual hangars by now. But patience is a virtue and all that….and good things come to those who wait. Blah blah blah….
Between my own flights in MSFS 2020 this past week, I’ve started getting MSFS 2024 tubeliner ready. I’ve installed the Fenix A30 family and have made sure my controllers all work the way I need them to in the new sim. I’ve installed a few add-on airports to get me started and I’m just kicking back until the 19th. If all goes as planned, I’ll complete my first tubeliner flight on MSFS 2024 next Friday.
But what about the PMDG 737-800? Despite some “Fake News” reports from some kid pretending to be Mathis Kok stating the release was imminent, if I were a betting man, I would place my bet on the release sometime between now and next weekend. I don’t believe as some have stated that PMDG is just messing with our heads and holding the release. Trust me, when the PMDG 737-800 is ready, PMDG will release it. Of course, I could be wrong about my release window and it could come anytime between now and sometime in 2026. After all, who really knows other than PMDG.
For now, I’ll continue to get things ready for Chaseplane and will happy and content with flying the Fenix until such time as PMDG makes the 737 available.
Until next time…
Happy Flying and Waiting!!!
