Hello Captains and welcome back. We’re still making our way eastward along the various islands in the South Pacific. Over the next few days we will visit the Cook Islands, French Polynesia, American Samoa and Samoa.
Flight Day 36
No rest for the weary just yet. From Niue we’re departing early and headed to the Cook Islands where we will land at the Rarotonga International Airport. As this is going to be a long flight leg at over 585 nm, we will stay over for the night.
Flight Day 37
We’re up bright and early for breakfast and a brief look around the area before setting off for Bora Bora in French Polynesia. Like yesterday, this is another long flight across the South Pacific and once we land in Bora Bora, we will rest for two days. We’re spoiling ourselves and staying at the Pearl Resort.
Flight Day 38
It’s time to leave the beautiful island of Bora Bora and resume our trip. Today we’ll head northwest towards the Tongareva Airport on Penrhyn Island. As this leg is another long one, it will be the only flight for the day.
Flight Day 39
Today we start heading back west as we make our way towards Pago Pago with a brief stop on Danger Island (Pukapuka) for fuel and food. While there are so many more islands we could explore, it’s time to begin heading back north of the equator and eventually back home to Georgetown. Of course I’m still several weeks away from returning home. After the scheduled stop at Pukapuka we once again got airborne and headed to Pago Pago on the island of American Samoa. While here we will do some routine maintenance on the Comanche.
Flight Day 40
Up before dawn for a quick breakfast and then headed to the airport. We’re leaving American Samoa for the quick hop over to Samoa. At just a little over 80 miles I think this will be the shortest leg of the trip. But it’s another entity off the list for Volanta tracking purposes. Since starting to use Volanta I’ve visited over 180 countries or entities. While some of these were places I had visited before, this trip has allowed me to add about 20 new countries to the list so far and before I’m done with this trip, I’m thinking I could add another 8 or so. We plan to end the day on the island of Tuvalu after another brief stop on Wallis island.
There you go. Another weekly update is in the books. I’ve really enjoyed sharing the journey so far and look forward to keeping you updated until the very end.
Until next time…
Happy Flying!!!
